Creation of Les Quatre Tours
1924: « Strength in unity »
On 2 May 1924, a group of winegrowers from Venelles set up the Venelles Winegrowers’ Cooperative in order to structure their work and pool resources to deal with the economic conditions and vineyards devastated by phylloxera.
1985: Creation of the Coteaux d’Aix-en-Provence appellation
The Venelles winery vineyard is primarily concerned with promoting its Coteaux d’Aix en Provence PDO terroir. A new management team has taken over from the founding fathers (the SIGNORET, MOULIN, BEAUVOIS and AURIOL families), whose descendants remain deeply attached to the « Quatre Tours » project.
1990: A time of alliances
The Venelles and Le Puy Sainte Réparade wineries joined forces to progressively produce wine on a single site in Venelles. The new union was named the « Cellier des Quatre Tours », as the Venelles winery had been built at Les Quatre Tours in 1924 (close to a bastide with four towers).
2000: People at the heart of the project
The arrival of the new Chairman, Thierry Blanchard, brought new dynamism to the project. Uniting, structuring and developing were at the heart of the new challenge. Les Quatre Tours has evolved into a true « Provençal Winery« .
2005: Quality rewarded!
Provence enjoys an international boom. The Provence rosé craze takes off! At this time Les Quatre Tours was exporting to more than 10 countries around the world, with major distribution in the United States and Sweden, as well as Australia, England, Norway, etc.
2015: Investments and innovation
The vineyard continues to develop its structure and considerable investment is made in the winery.
2021: Les Quatre Tours, a vineyard in Provence
The vineyard is at the heart of the Quatre Tours project. It now covers 5 villages (Venelles, Coutheron, Le Puy Sainte Réparade, Eguilles and Lambesc) in the heart of the Coteaux d’Aix en Provence, a veritable mosaic of terroirs. Les Quatre Tours has continued to develop by creating a selection of registered plots: « BEC » and « LA COLLINE« .
VILANDRIA was born and became the true signature of Les Quatre Tours, with its assertive and unique style, enjoying undeniable success in the competitions it entered, including a gold medal at the Concours Général Agricole in Paris.
